Templeton is one of San Luis Obispo County’s main wine-making regions and is a popular destination for Western eating establishments as well as fine California cuisine paired with local wines. At an elevation of 721 feet above sea level, the climate is mild and smog free. Antique shops, gift stores, and other services round out the offerings of the very charming Main Street business district. The pleasant rural community of Templeton has retained much of its historical character. The town is surrounded by rich agricultural land, hilly ranges with clusters of oak trees with a heavy production of almonds, cherries, apples, and grains. Templeton is one of three unincorporated areas in San Luis Obispo County that has land available for development.
